he Lakeview Lunch is located on one of the trendiest little stretches in the city. But the old-school diner has very little to do with the Dundas and Ossington neighbourhood's surge in popularity, largely because it's been around since long before any of the "hidden gem" bars all over the stretch. With over 60 years of service, the Lakeview lunch briefly closed its doors last year, only to reopen without much change. The diner, which for years had happily served pancakes and burgers to its hungry customers, had seen better days.
Thus, it was not much of a surprise to see the doors once again closed at the iconic diner. After all, The Stem seemed to have met much the same fate. But it appears there may be some life in the place yet. In the last few days a sign has appeared on the door announcing the re-opening of the Lakeview Lunch in the near future. Fortunately for us, the new ownership is giving the place a good renovation while maintaining the familiar Lakeview name and identity. Long live brunch!
