ll the boutique accoutrements for young, hip urbanites.
When it comes to house music and Clubland in general, Kool Haus (formerly The Warehouse) has recently been referred to as the Ambassador. Back in the mid '90s, when raves and the techno craze overtook Toronto's underground dance scene and pushed live venues into the background, it has been venues such as Kool Haus to offer an alternative to ... well, alternative.
The Guvernment (which houses Kool Haus) took to redefining itself in epic proportions. The space has housed many clubs in its lifetime, including the legendary R.P.M. in the mid-'80s and the not-quite-'90s. Charles Kabouth then brought us The Guvernment. It wasn't long before the Portal of clubs had established itself as the virtual house-music colony in Toronto. But for Kool Haus, which would come later, had become a disciple of dance since its birth, increasing its determination to resurrect the live party venue back in this town.
Kool Haus has separate areas with three illuminated bars including a lounge seating area, and two patios. The club has a huge technologically enhanced raised stage accompanied by a new DJ booth pumping out serious beats through the much ballyhooed sound system. Huge renovated restrooms and a coat check that could handle the population of a small foreign country. The club has hosted live acts from Metallica, and the Foo Fighters to Bjork and No Doubt. |
