dding a little happiness to the cool, if not jaded College Street West strip is a new Italian restaurant that comes via a smile. Whereas McDonald’s smile’s are always free, you must have a basic Italian vocabulary to get one here (or at least a reservation), as the physical, gum-baring effect of happiness is the direct translation of this resto’s moniker. Appropriately, this new restaurant replaces Sintra, located next door to, what else could be more perfect, Utopia. –E.J.

13 Reader Reviews | Absolutely wonderful! Staff made us feel at home in this very cozy place! I really felt like I was at home as I bumped into a few old friends. The food was so good, don't leave without trying the Bean Soup or the Ossobuco dish - simply scrumptious. A hidden gem! It was nice than Connie (part owner) came to talk to us.
Thank you Sorriso!

If it is on 588 College St. watch out your wallet and VISA. They use to add extra tips even if you didn't authorize that. Be prepared for a small portion of food. You will not listen any excuse me, thank you or any other polite manners. Ask for small and get large, the pasta does not have even a bread slice to help in the...cheap and low quality.

I love this place!
The portion and quality of the dishes were a pleasant surprise given the affordable prices.
Service made you feel like part of the family.
Not a single complaint-excellent restaurant.

My wife & I just fell into Sorisso as we were walking on College. We ended up going back later the same week. The first night we tried a few dishes (as the server advised - the portions are a bit smaller than you're used to, but still certainly large enough to go away more than satisified). My wife the pasta, me the short ribs and mushroom risotto. Really quite good. On our second trip, the server talked us each into the full fish with an excellent accompanying wine. Absolutely fantastic! The staff know their food and how to serve it. The ambiance was the most relaxed and enjoyable that we have had in a long time. We'll be back...again.

I enjoyed the wonderful service and attention to detail.
Having the option of choosing from a variety of small portions
is an exiting way to eat. We were lucky enough to meet the owner
Sam Scarfo who made us feel like we were dining in his home.
I highly reccomend IL Sorriso its a nice change from your
traditional dining experience.

Normally I don't like to eat at Italian restaurants, because I usually walk away feeling like "I could have done that at home" but that wasn't the case with Il Sorriso. The food, served as Spuntini (the Italian equivalent of tapas), was amazing. Things I've never had before, combinations I've never seen before - all delicious and presented like works of art. And all the prices surprisingly cheap. The "Pasta di Bosco" with porcini mushrooms was maybe the best pasta I've ever had. The owner came over and talked with us, and was incredibly helpful and friendly. The italian film posters on the walls are really cool. The only bad thing was the annoying Christmas music, but that's hard to avoid at this time of year. Maybe the best kept secret in Little Italy... I can't wait to go back in January.

Great little place, and definitely good bang for your buck given the quality of the food. Chef Saverio's offerings are true gems - Zucchini flowers in the summer, Porcini mushrooms in the fall... I can't wait to find out what surprises will be in store for the winter Menu. The Decor is great and the movie posters are a nice touch. By far the best place to eat on College Street.

I went to Sorriso's (588 College St.) last week and walked out with a frown on my face. The menu primarily consists of tapas style dishes that range from $7 to $14. The portions are very small and you will need to order at least 8 or 9 dishes unless you want to fill up on bread. Be careful with the wine as they will bring the wrong bottle (in our case it was $15 more than the one we ordered). Avoid the rappini and mussels as they are both EXTREMELY SPICY. I like hot food and I thought they were too hot. My wife couldn't eat them. Also the fried zucchini flowers were not available as they were out of season.
