
his outpost brings a bit of Kensington Market flavour to Ossington and Dundas. Still a bit on the plain side, this West Queen West urban warrior is typically gallery-ish, right down to artist Kelly Palmer's hand-painted artistry.
This is the second I Deal Coffee. Both part of James Fournier’s coffee emporium, where coffee beans are selected and roasted, pumping out a more traditional, “old style” bakery or roasterie of the past. Fortier really does know his coffee-related stuff; he brings in fresh batches of coffee each month from Central America, Africa and Asia. He then roasts those beans daily, for those who want their Guatemalan Huehuetenango organic, bird friendly, co-operatively farmed coffee roasted to a dark French and poured in an eighteen second double shot espresso.
I Deal Coffee uses a system where they grade each of their coffee’s for its sustainability factor using four categories they feel contribute to an ideal world. These are; environmentally, socially, politically and economically. Ask about the “Around the World,” a rich, full bodied blend, with a pinch of an El Salvador at a lighter roast. - B.J.
