A surefire method to set you up for life of alcoholism would be practicing the hang over technique fondly referred to as Hair of the Dog (i.e. another dose of the potent alcohol that got you in such a pained state the night before). Though this resto might look like it’s actually promoting future memberships to AA, rather, they are luring in hung over diners with this fabled remedy to that horrific headache and offering up delicious cuisine instead.

Located in the Gay village, the patio (full of fresh air) and low key lighting help you get back to a healthy state of mind. The cook whips up and excellent jambalaya or for those not feeling the sea food vibe, try the lemongrass curry chicken on a bed of basmati rice and baby bok choy that full of healthy and tasty ingredients. For those forgoing any food adventures and living life of an alcohol infused Church Street adventure, there is a stellar beer and martini repertoire on the drinks menu. - E.J.

Hair of the Dog is the perfect place for almost any occasion. From a b-day get together to a romantic evening this place can pull it off in spades. The decor is phenomenal for the space it is in and it never tries to be pretend what it is not. This isn't 5* dining and it isn't Firkin franchised run of the hill.

You get a great hearty meal for a great price with service that is friendly....and clientele that are more than happy to share a conversation if that be the case in an atmosphere that is unlike almost anywhere else in the city.

Hair of the Dog is truly one of Toronto's hidden gem restaurants. Maybe it is better to keep it that way!

Agreed. The menu and food at this place used to be excellent, some of the best in the Village. That was in late 2006. Since then, the menu has shifted to a more unhealthy (here referred to as "comfort food") and less tasty set of choices.

At times, the spaghetti and meatballs can rival anything that my Italian mama can make, but the dark interior makes it nearly impossible to read the menu, see your food, and enjoy the company across the table. Romantic lighting is one thing, this place is just plain dark.

a few years ago, the food was awesome....what happened to the big guy in the kitchen? He was the best thing that every happened to HOD.
Your value for money was acceptable because of what was coming out of the kitchen. Shame on you boys for trading stupid people for good food.
