13 Reader Reviews | I like it! I will be back...and I will recommend it to friends. One word of advice, don't go expecting it to be Jamie Kennedy Wine Bar. This is Gilead Cafe...Cafe being the operative word. The food was great, the staff was helpful and the atmosphere I would describe as "a warm social bustle"

completely overrated. I went after reading these reviews.... only to be disappointed by cocky staff, a dismal room and par-average fare.

A delight! There is nothing better than sitting in this cafe from opening time with a well made latte watching as the baking racks full of brioche, pain au chocolate, and the superb seeded sourdough bread disappear one by one.
I have had a number of meals and snacks here. The terrines are always amazing (the best so far has been Duck & Orange). Sandwiches are always amazingly fresh and delicious, especially the roast beef. And as always, Chef Kennedy's Yukon Gold fries make you forget about the gym!
It gets very busy at lunch time and there are precious few places to sit, so while the weather is nice you might as well stop by, pick up a sandwich and local lettuces (with the incredibly delicious freshly made dressing) and find yourself a bench or a stoop and enjoy!

I've eaten the danishes every week since the day this little place opened. I may have a problem.

I honestly wasn't impressed. I've been twice, just to see what the fuss is about... and really, it's just a lacklustre cafe.

Four of us went visited Gilead on a Friday a couple of days ago. It's a perfect addition to the area. We sat for hours, ate eight wonderful sharing dishes and chatted with the charming server. Anything served is top notch. I'll be back this Friday.

Tremendous food, first-class fun, friendly and informed service, great atmosphere, and not a hint of stuffiness. I recommend it w/o hesitation

The staff is pleasant, and the treats are satiating, the space is euphoric, and the kitchen is a bustling little pleasure to watch. Everyone has to visit once, at least, because you'll leave with a feeling of how all the Jamie Kennedy packaged items are prepared.

Cute... but really just for snacks. But, I shall return nonetheless (I live in the area)
