 his one could be messy.
It is a little short of astounding that something this blue-collar still exists at Yonge and College. Considering the mood of the local population due to world events, it's not surprising that people want to be reminded of happier times. A surefire way to achieve this is to wrap ourselves in a security blanket of comfort food: burgers, lasagna, club, sandwiches, macaroni and cheese.
You would think you could try this at our one remaining Fran’s location, where, for the past six decades, has been serving up such greasy-spoon fare. But nope, you won’t find any satisfaction here. I suggest bringing your own coffee to this restaurant. You will need every drop as you wait for what feels like forever. Hopefully by that point you will also be caffeined enough to not realize that the food, at least the pasta I had, tasted like a frozen dinner from a box. Other menu items at Fran's - all day breakfast, Meat lasagna, steak and fries, meat loaf - can be hit or miss.
However, the staff is jovial enough, especially considering their shift work schedule. “I’ll help with that,” our waitress says on my last visit, freshly returning to the table with a knife and fork. “Cause, this one could be messy.” And so, as thoughtful mothers do for their two-year olds, she scoops out my little pie onto my plate and then disappears with the cutlery before anyone can hurt themselves.

I was greatly surprised with my lasagna. I thought the price was pretty good. I will go back to Fran's. They just have to do something about their entrance there really isn't anywhere to stand well waiting for a seat. I felt rude standing over people eating.

My experience at Fran's in Toronto was great. The food was superb. The only criticism I have is that I had to wait in a long line of hungry patrons waiting to get a seat in a packed place.
For Martiniboys: I don't think there is a Fran's Restaurant in Nova Scotia.

I've been to Frans Restaurant in Dartmouth, NS. and I would rate them all 4 star. This was a big disappointment to what I thought would be the same restaurant. Frans in Toronto has to be the worst experience.

As a person who enjoys eating out, I decided to give Fran's Restaurant on Victoria a whirl. I decided to opt out of having my favourtite dish, the Lasanga. Instead, I ventured into their new selection and ordered the Fran's "Surf and Turf". I have to say, the food was pretty good and satisfying. Albeit, I am bias, as I dine at Fran's when I can't figure out where to go.

MartiniBoys review is dead-on. Theres a reason people stopped going to places like Frans. Had to remind my waitress 3 times that I wanted a coffee. The food is so-so, keep walking to Eggspecation across the street, people.

I visited Fran's some time last year. I'll be short. Two words: Close it!

Near midnight. We ordered the Chicken Parmigiani. It came covered in sauce and cheese so it was not until we ate it that we realised it was RAW!!! -- The manager's response was ridiculous to say the least.
