Principally featuring Mediterranean cuisine with nods to Thai's Pan Asian roots (remember his stint as sushi chef at Canoe?), and some distinctive plates of his own invention, Foxley is not your usual neigbourhood eatery (no matter what the Ossington residents advise you otherwise). Featuring a range of small plate options, the short menu changes daily, and, according to Thai, will reflect the best of the markets that particular day (read: fresh).
If you're lucky, the menu might offer Thai's fresh spring rolls ($7.00) that will surely take you back to Tempo's splendor, plated with grilled portabello mushrooms and a tiny herb salad. Also, on and off the menu, is the hot lamb and duck prosciutto dumpling ($7.00). Perhaps not the prettiest dish on the chef’s menu, but this hot, tiny treat shows the difference between good and truly great cooking.
Grilled king fish ($14.00) is a bold marriage with almond curry wrapped in banana leaf. But the adventurous dishes are the best, like the sea bream ceviche ($14.00), which arrives with an improbable-sounding yuzu and shiso leaf. Grilled whole snapper ($20.00) takes nothing more than a tomatilla salsa to make it sing. Should you be seeking even more adventure in your meal – and apparently, many are – a grilled beef heart ($10.00) is on tap, curiously topped with a hearty chimichurri sauce.
And so it goes at this gastronomic sensation. For all Tom Thai's vaunted inventiveness, his fare is almost shocking in its heft. The constantly rotating menu presents plenty of territory for exploration (regardless of what the market happens to offer that particular day). And watch out for Thai's upcoming back patio converted into a tiny Night Asian Market - could be a novel place to sit on a summer’s eve.

5 Reader Reviews | Very much a foodie-centric spot. Takes a bit of digging, but Foxley is very much a gem.

I have been to many restaurants in the city and the menu and selection of plates exceeded my expectations!
I have and would continue to recommend this restaurant to my friends and business colleagues.
The price was great especially because you had an explosion of flavour and presentation as well! The atmosphere was cozy and warm and the service was good. The seating was limited however we didn't have to wait to sit for our meal. This definitely one of my favourite restaurants in Toronto!

The culinary experience at Foxley might be good...if they get around to seating you. Foxley's "no reservation" policy is ridiculous. My friends and I tried to eat at Foxley twice. We arrived to get our spot in the line, were told to wait 40 minutes for a table to clear. 90 minutes later, we still did not have a table even though people that came after us were seated. To add insult to injury, after 90 minutes, we were not allowed to sit at four empty seat at the bar because someone else was apparently coming for them! The servers were rude, and did not bother to try and address our situation. We certainly will not be returning to Foxley, and will be letting our friends know of our "wonderful" experience. Like I said, the food may be amazing, but the reservation policy, and the rude wait staff render it pointless to try and enjoy Chef Tom's creations.
