“We’ve been very lucky.” Says Ford about the response the place has been getting since they opened up. “Last night, we had a packed house. It was amazing.” On one of my visits, the party of 15 that were enjoying the luxuries of the communal table at the front of this resto was setting the tone of what to expect from this place.
Sutherland and Ford want people to know that other than the friendly and pleasant ambience, the priority will be the food. The food is inspired by French, Portuguese, and Spanish cuisine. The whole purpose of the menu is to have seasonal dishes and constantly keep it changing. The menu is meat heavy but they can easily accommodate vegetarians or any other food specific diets that people might have. Their menu is basically a three-price tier of $7, $9 and $11 mini dishes.
Their wine list is an extensive one that will also see changes from time to time. You can purchase wine by three or six-ounce glasses or you can get a half litre or bottle. They also have flights of wine, which are several glasses of two-ounce servings of wine. Think of it as ordering off a tasting menu but you get wine instead.
So for those who would like a night out without the congested downtown scene, the Fat Cat Wine Bar is the place to go with a group or with a date. – J.B.

8 Reader Reviews | The next time I walk down Roncesvelles I will know better to walk past Fat Cat Wine Bar. The service was dreadful and slow. The blond bimbo in the kitchen had as much personality as Leona Helmsly and should have spent her time tidying the washroom which was filthy. Our intention was to enjoy a bottle of wine and a few shared dishes from the menu but we decided on a glass and get out. The neighborhood deserves better.

Our party of 8 was sadly disappointed. The service was bad. The waiter didn't know any of the specials and had to interrupt himself three times to leave our table to refresh his memory. Some of the items on the menu were not available. The beer was flat! Two of our drink selections were unavailable and one was an Ontario wine. This seems strange for an establishment with "wine bar" in the name. Upon entering we were accosted by a smell that was indescribable. We will not go back.

I took a friend here for birthday Friday night. We arrived around 9.30 and decided to grab a drink elsewhere, as the resto was full. When we arrived back half an hour later the venue had cleared out and we were seated within 5 minutes.
The service was impeccable - very attentive but laid back. The wine was simply out of this world and it was an absolute treat to be able to purchase by the half litre - it allowed us to try a couple of superb offerings.
It's difficult to describe the food because it was so well done, yet simply so.
For the two half litres we enjoyed along with four gorgeous tasting plates the cost was incredible - only $150, including tip! Very affordable and we'll be back in the next few months since apparently the menu changes every month or so. We were told the wine list changes every two weeks - very fun!
I recommend you go later at night to avoid the dinner rush.

I love this place and the bistro. Matthew is a GOD of food and the atmosphere in the wine bar is intelligent, sophisticated and low bullsh#$%. If you've been chased away from Colleg Street by the stupid, overpriced, bad service, club bistros then come to Rosney and enjoy a glass of wine.
