t Ezra’s Pound, it should come as no surprise that the house serves up deliciously frothy shots of what owner Ezra Braves calls ‘the single malt scotch of coffee’ – espresso. Not to worry though, brew coffee is still the special du jour, here ground and dripped to order. Everything here wears the ‘fair-trade and pesticide free’ badge and the take-away cups and containers are non-toxic and biodegradable so you don't have to feel guilty about getting your cup of mud to go.
Former member of the real estate club, Braves, barista and occasional private chef, always knew that he wanted to open a coffee spot. With the closing of take-away hotspot Hey Good Cooking, he moved in. On the perimeters of the Annex, Ezra's Pound shares its clientele with places like Aroma Espresso Bar on Bloor Street.
These days, Braves puts his croissants in the oven shortly before he opens at 7 to catch the early morning hustle and bustle. Light, buttery and warm (if you come early enough), Braves’ croissants are the stuff of legends. Ezra’s Pound also serves up organic desserts and sandwiches, all of which are made on site.
