Those that frequent the Yonge and Eglinton area are definitely foodies with a heightened palate. So regardless of the economic times they expect quality food at the best value they can find. Entrer Dizzy on Yonge.

With the success of Scott and Chris Murie’s The Dizzy Gastro Sports Pub in Roncesvalles, Chris decided to open a second restaurant under the same franchise on January 3rd. Dizzy on Yonge is now where Cfood used to be and that is no coincidence. In Murie’s opinion, as he used to be the chef at Cfood for about four years, Olivier Center, the past owner of Cfood, got busy with his new signage company and lost interest in the restaurant.

Once the location had been acquired changes had to be made based on the character profile of the new neighbourhood. The obvious difference is the emphasis on the details and plating of the food and less on flatscreen tv’s. The menu and hospitality have stayed the same. Same Canadian pub fare mixed with French cuisine.

The look of the new Dizzy is more upscale to match the area as well. The midtown location is definitely a different crowd and that is exactly why the restaurant moved in. The goal for the Murie men is to open Dizzy’s in every great neighborhood around the world and make appropriate changes along the way. Picture it, Dizzy on Bloor or Dizzy Dublin or even Dizzy Dubai. It could happen!

LOL Ravi. I know which dude you mean. (I think he's he only dude). Chances are he was high. I think that might be a pre-requisite at this place.

I too, used to enjoy the Dizzy but like Cfood before it, it is starting to go downhill. I think the novelty wears off and everybody loses interest. I started going to Cam's place up the street. They have good food deals too and it's more reliable.

I don't normally write on these boards but after my experience yesterday, I felt that I had to.

I have visited many times before and really enjoyed the food and found the service to be just fine. Yesterday, however, I am certain that our server was drunk or high. He seemed to forget that I was there, even though the restaurant can't seat more than 20 people, and there was only one other couple. My food sat for so long in the window that I was actually going to get it myself. Instead, I pointed it out to him and he responded with an odd laugh, hesitated, and finally strolled over to pick it up.

From what I recall, my chicken sandwich was fine but I was so uncomfortable I paid the check quickly and left. I may go in again again but not for lunch.

We have eaten there a few times and loved each time. We even had our rehearsal dinner there. They initially offered to cook anything we wanted. We picked a few items off the menu, and asked them to go crazy with the rest. It was fantastic and all our guests thoroughly enjoyed it. The only problem was we had too much food.

Is there an option for 0 stars?

They may be the best wings in Toronto but they have to cook them first. I was in the other day in the midst of what could be best described as chaos. I heard so much about the wings that I ordered them. When I mentioned that they were undercooked the chef took them back. I then sat there as people (staff? customers?) came in and out through the kitchen. There were as many as 10 people in the restaurant, walking back and forth and talking. No one was working and certainly no one was re-cooking my wings. I left and I don't think anyone even noticed.

I will never set foot in there again.

I'm surprised to see the negative comments here. I feel like most of these people were unlucky and had an unfortunate experiece.

I go to Dizzy regularly (a couple times a week) and it's always fantastic. The prices are comparable to a chain restaurant like Kelsey's or Boston Pizza, however the food is so much better its not even comparable.
I have experienced inventory issues, however when it has happened the chef has replaced the side with something else and it's always been great. A little variety is a good thing

I have been in several times because I like the beer but...
The food and service are way too inconsistent for this place to last. There seems to be one very friendly waitress (the best -and hottest- one they had hasn't been there the last few times) and one bored, impatient waitress. The food is usually good but the same dish never tastes the same twice and most of the time I have to pick a few items before I find something they have in stock. It is also hit-and-miss if they are open. They often don't open until late or they might close early. If you wanna stop by don't wait too long, they won't be there by next patio season.

The chef better have been away when we went. I had the salt flavored dry steak with greens and extra salt. Only the greens never came. It did come with an obscene portion of soggy fries.
We only stayed because we thought we might get to hear chef Ramsey tearing into the rank amateurs in the back. When that didn't happen we left vowing never to return. That was a Friday evening

Twice I have been there for Sunday brunch, only to be told by the waitress that the chef didn't show up , but she could offer me beer, make me a caesar or a mimosa!! Who wants exclusively alcohol for a Sunday brunch? The place seems to be poorly managed.

Wow! Over rated & disappointing. An okay bar food at best (drinks - weak!) and yes the people there are nice but geez people, come on, nothing special going on here.

Great place, I liked the fare but it was a bit "sports-bar-ish" for me.
