Apropos teal (i.e. tea with an "l" suffix) lettering portended a Queen West debut: David's Tea. The closest thing Toronto has to a traditional British High Street, the outdoor mall of Queen Street West between University and Spadina Avenues, now spotlights imperialism's favourite drink. However, don't expect a Brit-style teahouse. Instead, David's purportedly has a "young and fun" ethos, with a wood palette and a West Coast zeitgeist.

Culling stock from around the world, David's offers approximately 120 loose teas - it has a loose-is-best dogma. Look for a heavy rotation of flavours, with new varieties debuting perpetually. David's website has been live for over a month and offers a preview of what the shop has in store. If you're too lazy to navigate the consumerist throngs of Queen, you can order directly online. Varieties abound, from the hard to pronounce to the familiar. Tea comes by bulk or cup, so you can sit and sip or grab and go. -S.T.

Hands down the best tea selection around. Nice folks operate this business, and they provide quick service and they teach all their staff the basis of tea.

Good selection of teas -- including some unique custom blends. Nice selection of green and white teas. Good variety of accessories for brewing and serving. Staff were friendly and helpful. I will definitely go back.

The payment information in this store profile is incorrect -- they do not accept Amex.

Definitely an impressive selection of teas, though I can't believe how much matcha tea is...wow, nearly ten times that of other teas.

The staff are great at selling, but don't know their black teas at all, I went twice and each time got home found the teas I was told I would love, I dislike. I'm sticking to going to the tea pot of College near Dufferin where they know their teas and don't try to ups ell you.
