he troubled location that housed
Ninth Gate,
Eleven and its successor
The-Garden-@-Eleven has been brought to life once again. The boys behind Café Asia (100 Front Street East) have taken matters into their own hands and whipped the corner place into, well,
Corner Place (11 Jarvis Street). While the space has been mildly updated with a few puffy couches and armchairs, the space still has "Eleven's' fingerprints all over it.
The menu is different though, even if a bit on the safe "office crowd" side. Now open for lunch and dinner (the grand opening is Friday), the menu features grilled salmon with mango salsa, a grilled strip loin with green peppercorn brandy gravy and BBQ beef burgers. Kudos, however, for including the jerk chicken burger, always a sure-fire lunch-time hero. Hope this one lasts, or we'll wind up with Golden Griddle returning to its old haunt. - DE
