The decrepit strip of Carlton between Parliament and Sherbourne recently underwent a small but noticeable facelift. It isn’t every day that facelifts come in the form of freight trains, but the spot in question has definitely noticed a difference since its transformation. Cabbagetown’s newest greasy spoon has a gorgeous train mural façade and is naturally called Chew Chew. Owner Tasho Vassiliou has tapped into the Sunday brunch crowd that spills out of the three surrounding churches around noon. Kids and parents alike can fill up on average diner food with excellent service. The all-day breakfast, the cheeseburger and the coffee are the main attractions. All aboard! –J.T.

Awesome breakfast place! Tons of food, excellent coffee (not too strong or bitter), and awesome service. Every time we go in there, we order and get our meal before we've finished our first cup of coffee!

They've very friendly, and prices aren't bad. Highly recommended! Don't let the junky outside fool you!

Oh mighty grease, how I worship you. Hubby got the eggs, but complained that it was just too much grease. I got your basic run of the mill breakfast eggs, bacon fried potatoes and thought it was pretty good. The sandwiches left something to be desired, but you can't have everything. Will go back after I have ran 15 miles to try the breakfast.
