hakra translates to “center of energy” and this restaurant will soon be the center of energy for Indian food in Toronto (good lord that joke was bad, but bear with me). This new eatery will provide patrons with a menu comprised of Tandoori and Mughlai dishes of Northern India. Make no mistake, this is standard Indian fair with all the expected dishes available, but they are prepared with enough style and flair that you don’t have to worry about being disappointed. And if the spices prove to be too much to bear, then you’ll have a decent list of wines selected by Doris Miculan Bradley (a fine Toronto sommelier) too cool the flames. Just be careful about how much wine you pour on the fire. Alcohol can be quite flammable and you don’t want to end your evening in the burn ward (note to concerned readers: no, it is not actually set yourself on fire by combining spicy food with alcohol). -P.B.
