As a devoted "Meat and Potatoes" girl, I had serious doubts about dining at Boom Shiva.
The food was FANTASTIC!!. Absolutely delicious and very fresh.. The salads are big enough for three, and a wide variety to choose from.. Appetizers were served piping hot and special requests were accomadated with a smile.
Our server was fast and friendly and not overbearing. It was a enjoyable night out.
I did find it to be expensive compared to other vegetarian restaurants.
Overall I loved the food and the service.. Not sure how often I will get the chance to dine here ( I live in Bracebridge, Ontario) but I would definitely reccomend this restaurant!1

Decided to check out Boom Shiva last night after hearing good things about it and was VERY DISAPOINTED. As a vegetarian I think this is the kind of place that turns people off of vegetarian food. First of all I had the Edemame (Soy beans in pods) which they called by a different name. They were adequate, but the serving was about half the size you would get anywhere else, at double the price. The menu described them as being "tossed in sea salt and lime" but since you don't eat the shells, only the beans inside, that really doesn't make much difference. Although there was a large wine and beer menu there were no other fluids listed on the menu. When I asked about juices, I was told "Our juicer is down" . The Pasta was bland and the sauce tasted canned. Apparently the Polenta was really good and the servers were nice and did their job well. The place looks nice, but the menu....Blaaa!
