They have sandwiches ($7.50 - $10.50) made with daily fresh bread including a Toasted VLT that are served with sides of salad or soup and the request of wheat free or spelt bread is available for the addition of a $1. And the Big Boom Salads ($7 - $10) are full meals that can be accentuated with one of their ten complimentary sides for just a few dollars more.
Between what’s on tap and bottle, it’s only going to bolster their clientele. With over 50 brews to select from mainly focusing on local, Canadian and overseas microbreweries, Boom Shiva can easily turn into the Cheers of the West Queen West area.
As well as having a mix of vodkas (potato, rice and an organic corn vodka) and Chilean Brandy (Pisco and Pisco sour) and a juice bar that’ll be serving up smoothies, shakes and an assortment of beverage concoctions, Boom Shiva is aiming to be the one stop eat, drink and play destination.
Brunch is served on the and lunch and supper and food orders can be made until 10pm. West Queen West needs a spot like this to thrive. With more people frequenting the nightlife scene in this hood and diluting it of its artistic relevance, Boom Shiva can potentially rejuvenate that creative zeal that gave Queen West its arty edge in the first place. Here’s hoping that Shiva watches over and helps maintain an essential part of what some people feel is already lost. - J.B.

2 Reader Reviews | As a devoted "Meat and Potatoes" girl, I had serious doubts about dining at Boom Shiva.
The food was FANTASTIC!!. Absolutely delicious and very fresh.. The salads are big enough for three, and a wide variety to choose from.. Appetizers were served piping hot and special requests were accomadated with a smile.
Our server was fast and friendly and not overbearing. It was a enjoyable night out.
I did find it to be expensive compared to other vegetarian restaurants.
Overall I loved the food and the service.. Not sure how often I will get the chance to dine here ( I live in Bracebridge, Ontario) but I would definitely reccomend this restaurant!1

Decided to check out Boom Shiva last night after hearing good things about it and was VERY DISAPOINTED. As a vegetarian I think this is the kind of place that turns people off of vegetarian food. First of all I had the Edemame (Soy beans in pods) which they called by a different name. They were adequate, but the serving was about half the size you would get anywhere else, at double the price. The menu described them as being "tossed in sea salt and lime" but since you don't eat the shells, only the beans inside, that really doesn't make much difference. Although there was a large wine and beer menu there were no other fluids listed on the menu. When I asked about juices, I was told "Our juicer is down" . The Pasta was bland and the sauce tasted canned. Apparently the Polenta was really good and the servers were nice and did their job well. The place looks nice, but the menu....Blaaa!
