Let’s get this out of the way right off the bat: Biff's is a big budget Oliver-Bonacini affair. This is the crew responsible for Auberge du Pommier, Jump and Canoe, and it shows.
This one continues the coterie's fascination with pretension and style (it has a million dollar awning). Dealmaking is still the order of the day and this joint.

Absolutely nothing is left to chance at this vehicle. Situated across from the Hummingbird Centre, it's a pre-ballet/opera destination for the perfumed set. The wait staff is helpful, charismatic and unobtrusive; they miraculously materialize exactly when you need them.

The French modern-style restaurant and bar is packed with a sleek, chic crowd at dinner. It costs, but you get exactly what you pay for. With bistro fare like steak-frites and coq-au-vin, pan-roasted Maine diver scallops in a fennel, orange, and vanilla infusion, it's classic French bistro fare, prepared with skill and imagination. Ask the waiter for the best bets of the evening. Talk to the sommelier about the lengthy wine list.

Best bets: the raised Provimi veal roulade with pan roasted sweetbreads and roasted garlic pomme pureé is a consistent winner, with its tart lemon and caper relish; then there’s the poached Atlantic salmon fillet on a warm new potato salad dressed with salsa verde and steamed fresh asparagus. Also, the Roast Rock Cornish hen with Yukon potatoes, bacon lardons and pan jus is a compelling signature dish.

I dragged my husband here a year to celebrate my birthday. We had such a huge fight over finding a parking space that my birthday was almost ruined! But the escargots and souffles made up for it.
I think this was probably the last and final time I was able to persuade him to come to these parts!

We arrived to be seated at a table by the corridor in the lounge that lead to the kitchen, staff were frantically running around, knocking customer's purses off from their chairs. After asking, was moved to an empty table with less traffic.

Service was terrible. One of the worst I have had in Toronto, let alone in a restaurant with such great reviews as this one. Took 45 minutes to take orders. No waiter around to ask for drink refills. Could not locate a waiter to pay, had to stand up and go to the front.

Most importantly, the food was really disappointing. Had the black cod, the cod was unnaturally sweet, and I have a sweet tooth just not on my fish. Really did not compliment the tangy tomato-based sauce. Rolls were cold and stale, enough said.

    Definitely not going back again.

We attended Biff's for the first time based on reviews we read on this website. We were quite pleased with the quality and presentation of the food. Great flavour and portions. The service staff are excellent. Extremely professional and very attentive to their guests. I never had to ask for assistance, as they were always maintaining a keen eye on us to ensure that we were never in need of anything. The crowd is somewhat showcasey, but given the district their in, it's expected.

I was visiting from Long Beach, CA (USA). This was a nice dining experience for our group. The mushroom soup with tarragon was the hit of the table. The sausages in the choucroute could have been pan-seared first, they were a bit too soft. The quail had been butterflied, making it much easier to eat than in other dining establishments. The flavors, throughout, were superb. We dined on a Thursday night, when the theater was closed. The place was rather quiet, which we enjoyed. The service staff were extremely knowledgeable and I agree with Martiniboys--use their expertise (I must admit, our waitress had yet to try the choucroute and we ordered blindly). Desserts were remarkable, the cheese cart overwhelming--we wanted to try them all, but sanity prevailed.

One of the best dining experiences I've had in the city. A recent weekend visit proved to be fantastic. Service was fantastic: not the least bit snooty like other restaurants in its category. Server was knowledgeable about the wine and the support servers kept the bread coming and the water glasses filled. Food was, as expected, fabulous. Only negative was that they did the 'oh, your table will be ready shortly' despite the fact we had reservations and the restaurant was empty. They made us wait in the bar area for ten minutes, presumably thinking we'd order a drink in the meantime. Prices were high but in line with other similar places. Overall, a wonderful time: will go back when my wallet allows for it.

The food at Biffs was excellent. EXCELLENT !!!! Their service was top-notch. However, the place is a little showcasey. But overall it is a great place to have dinner --- chic, funky and happening --- if you want, even the noisier places can be romantic as long as you can get lost in each other. So you romantics don't discouraged by any negatives on the size. Highly recommend this place.

This is one of my favorite restaurants. Having moved to Los Angeles almost 2 years ago, I was anxiously anticipating my visit to Biffs this Thanksgiving. I just want to thank everyone in the restaurant for making the experience as unforgettable as ever. My boyfriend agreed that the experience at Biffs was one of the best overall dining experiences he had ever had! The service, the presentation, the food, the atmosphere was phenomenal. The desserts deserve endless praise as well.
