  lthough it has drawn some negative press, this new resto, the only fine-dining establishment in The Beaches, seems to fill up nearly all of its 24 seats on most given nights. A contemporary menu featuring the latest food trends, Balsam Restaurant is an ambitious endeavor for childhood mates David Salter and Nick Drake. The hearty menu includes carnivorous delights such as braised pork belly, pork tenderloin and lamb.

I have never experienced such pure and precise service anywhere (And I dine out frequently...TO, MTL, BC. This place needs to be noticed! I wish Balsam Restaurant a long, long life in the Beach and hope that everyone tries it out. It's sexy, zen like, date place, party place, bring the kids (early!)...I go all the time, for whatever I need my night to be! And my 8 and 4 yr. olds LOVE IT! They ask me all the time to go! Their fav's are the homeade soups, the in house dips w/warm bread (which you get in seconds of seating). The staff make the kids feel so welcomed and so special!

WOW! This restaurant is beautiful. Just what the Beach needs! Which is why, I suppose, that this amazing eatery was conceived by a Beacher. The owners are so young, and inspiring...it eludes through the room and the food. The BEST place in the Beach for dinner, parties ect....And their coffees...perfect!

We trudged through the storm to eat at Balsam--this was our second time at this fantanstic Beaches restaurant. Because of the winter weather we were the only customers. The food was elegant and delicious, the flavours original and memorable. The staff friendly and accomodating (despite the fact that we knew they had stayed open only for us, not once did they make us feel rushed ). All in all a delightful restaurant experience. We will definately be back!
