"It all came together well as we purchased a former business that already had a liquor license," he proudly states. "A month of renovations later and we were able to open the doors." There are eight brews on tap (which will expand to twelve when the patio opens), a good selection of wines and a fully stocked liquor shelf. Ask for the $3.50 pints of PBR to get you started. Future plans call for a selection of healthy munchies, carefully monitored by Homewood’s partner Samara.
Homewood understands the stark immediacy of his little bar and he orchestrated it with brilliantly homespun details. With a capacity of just 40, this place looks happening with just a handful of people. Soon, there will be a smaller back space that will act as a "sports bar/VIP lounge," depending on who you talk to. As well, Homewood can’t wait until next summer when his capacity will likely double with the addition of a backyard patio.
It’s good to have friends in all the right places, as Homewood gives kudos to The Social owners Jesse and Richard as being very supportive. He even hijacked The Social's Katie to moonlight as Bar Manager when she’s not dodging the crowds over at the Queen Street bar. DJ's drop by on scheduled nights, such as this past week, when neighborhood peep k-os dropped by and threw down a base heavy set.
"I worked in the hospitality industry as a bar back/dishwasher when I was eighteen at a bar called Barracuda on Bloor Street," Homewood confesses. Besides this ‘claim to fame,’ he also did time as a lineman with the now defunct CFL Ottawa Renegades. The Toronto native also played with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, Hamilton Tiger-Cats and Toronto Argonauts.

Loved it. great crowd with a great attitude. hospitality was tremendous. the place was filled with mature and well balanced easy to look at people rather than your regularly awkward hipsters that seem to have filling up the previously decent spots on queen west.
