Service was outstanding. Drinks were amazing, served from charming and knowledgeable staff. Our table ordered bottle service, and the server actually took us into the walk-in vodka cellar to taste different vodkas before we settled on our bottle. There's a lot more to vodka than just Stoli and Grey Goose! She was funny and entertaining, and the experience was totally unique from any other place I've been. The music was great--upbeat and catchy while still original, and they even played the Russian national anthem at midnight! The crowd is white-collar for sure, but educated, friendly, and courteous. The second time I arrived, the bartender had my drink waiting for me before I sat down--she remembered my name and my favourite drink. Gorgeous place, and incredible party!

If you have an expense account, then by all means go here. However, if you're spending your own money, then it is not worth the money you will spend here.
$60 lunch for two.
The décor is nice, food is average at best and server was poor (we waited 30mins for our order to arrive). Portions are quite small. Salad portions are ridiculously small (but to make you feel better, the salad is decorated nicely).
Just because the restaurant name is Italian and some of its dishes are italian does not mean it's any good.
I will never go here again.
Go to an Indian restaurant or something for more value for your dollar (Bay St. crowd should know this better)!

The staff there is scary, the bar understaffed, the sound system is horrid (is that really a sound system?)and the hall way room to get to the main space is filled with sketchy freaks who weren't there to catch the main act and lounged all night. The worst part was that you have to go through that room to get to the washrooms. Also, everyone smokes there and I'll never be able to get the stench out of my coat and I smelled disgusting after spending a few hours there on both occasions.
The space was used 2 weeks in a row for events thrown with international talent who were seriously put out by the quality of the space. I don't think the promoters knew what they were getting into and I doubt they'd use the space again. I would be hard pressed to go back to Blak.

My general opinion on the club blak is that first off what most non ravers don't know is that the majority of "rave" events were thrown at another club at Queen and Spadina. It's not fair for me to name which club this was so I won't. Raves occured here for a long period of time. The rave scene over the years has declined in both numbers and quality. In an attempt to revitalize the rave scene Blak emerged from the same person(s) that were throwing events at that club on a regular basis. Which appeared in somewhat of the same way with very little to no decor and a grunge.
Don't be fooled. Behind closed doors the kids who attend will still be doing the same sketchy things like ketamine, e, coke and anything else floating around the rave scene that has and will always be there regardless of which dj's are playing or what talent comes in.
Blak will slowly either evolve into one of two things. The club where they hosted the majority of their rave events or a more reputable club knowing for throwing great CLEAN events.
Time will tell what blak will evolve into.
For now it's just another place for the same kids to attend a different place and hopefully attract some fresh blood once again shedding light on the Toronto rave scene, the drugs, the politics, the secrets and the music.

nice atmosphere, great sound system. it's not sketchy like bassmint was and nowhere near the same ballpark as comfort zone.
cheap drinks, security actually seem to enforce their zero tolerance drug policy
