    Back to Montana Restaurant-Bar

    1. Anonymous's Review :: November 17, 2008
Great night out! Went for my birthday dinner with the girls and then straight to the club upstairs to dance. Good prices and BIG portions. Huge club with 2 dancefloors, pool tables and really nice bartenders with no attitude. Mooocho Fun. Going back soon

Wow! Had a fab dinner with my man here last night.
I couldn't believe the size of his "Size Matters" burger or the
Pecan Tilapia I had. Delish... Really reasonable prices and
very helpful staff. My new fave place.

I went to Montana's on Friday night to work up the dance floor upstairs with my friends. We were there for the atmosphere and we had a great time! The music was fantastic, the DJ rocked, and the drinks line-up wasn't long at all and the services was nice and speedy. Would definitely go there again!

Dina Vendetti is one of the rudest managers of a restaurant I have ever come across.
Watching her belittle other customers made me loose what ever appetite I had.
Too bad when Restaurant Makeover redid the interior, they didn't fix the front of the house.

Don't bother ever going to Montana!

Incredibly horrible by every standard. Yes the place looks great. Yes the waitstaff are friendly. But what matters is still the food.

I ordered a burger and specifically requested no bacon or pork in my food due to religious beliefs. I know for a fact that the waitress got the order perfectly right. My burger came back and during my third bite, I noticed a piece of bacon peeking out!

Aside from the fact that it ruined our night, this was offensive in so many ways. This basically tells me that the staff accidentally put bacon on my burger, realized their mistake and removed it, instead of making a new one... thinking I wouldn't notice. Which is wrong on so many level.

To disrespect someone's religion and dietary beliefs to this level is absolutely horrible. I truly won't be surprised if this is something that happens often at their restaurant and sadly goes unnoticed.

The manager apologized but it doesn't matter. What they did was wrong on so many levels. I don't recommend this place to anyone!

We went to Montanas because we heard there ribs were so good, well they were the worst I've ever had. We had to pull strips of fat off each rib, before we good eat them, what meat there was. I do not know where they get there ribs, but maybe get a new butcher. They were terible.

My rating of "1", is only because there is no option to go lower then that. Basically, it was the first and last time I will ever attend this place. On a Saturday night, all I expect, after the bartender gets my drink order wrong, is that there will at least be some booze in it. Who out there can't taste vodka in water? After asking 5 customers if my "vodka/water"(which was supposed to be "vodka/cranberry"????) had any vodka in it, and ALL of them agreed that there was NO vodka in it, I was pretty much told(apparently by the manager), that we were all wrong. For the cost of one drink, and a customer that will never return or recommend wasting your money at this place, they ignored me and made me dispute it for close to 15 minutes. All she had to do was make me a "vodka/cranberry ,and the $4 tip she got would have been worth it. If you want to get ripped off and treated like crap, by all means check this place out.

After reading the last review... I felt as if I needed to say something about this restaurant. I too had a birthday party there last night, and we had a great time. The service was ok... however I waiter kept disappearing. They were one of the only restaurants in the area to reserve a table for 20 without setting a minimum. Overall my party enjoyed it... I would recommend it for a large group outting.. just suggest you sit downstairs.

    10. Anna's Review :: February 17, 2008
i was there last night (feb 16,08), for my bday party for 14 people. i went to that restaurant last year for a staff dinner pary and we ended up having a fabulous time so i figured we'd go there. so here is what happend last night:
i reserved a table 1 week in advance, the upstairs is the club area so i figured they wouldnt put a dinner party upstairs! not only that but it was about 10C upstairs, some people had to wear jackets it was so cold (the waitress said they turned the heat up, but the fireplace was broken).
there was buckets around the place-great decor, apparently the roof was leaking, you'd think the upstairs was closed if the roof leaks! the bathrooms were flooded, and the floors were slippery!
there was no music there until 10:30 pm, the dinner started at 8pm.
the place was absolutely horrible...i wouldnt recommend going there at all! not only that, but when we tried to call and complain, they said to call back in half an hour because they were 'too busy setting up' WTF! very very displeased and dissapointed. if it wasnt for the great company, i could have cried.

we were a party of 16 got in, sat down, moved around to accommodate people that were coming in a bit late, ordered our food, took a good half hour for the food to arrive in our table, and when it did for some reason the one of the waitress decided to just drop the food in front of us so rudely almost throwing it on the table. Asked to have separate bill for each couple or persons, waitress said they can not accomodate us because we moved around the table. There was not any sign or posting saying that says they cannot separate bills, spoke with the manager, he said that they do not separate due to the load of work for the waitress to separate bill on a friday or saturday not to mention that we've moved around the table before they took our orders.

by the end of the night we ended up with separate bills but our drinks are on one bill.

I have been to Montana restaurant on John St[BTW, it's NOT the same restaurant as the Montana's Cookhouse chain, you guys in the 905 region : ) ] several times. GOOD NEWS: It's a good location if you're going to the movies, because Scotiabank Centre Theatre, formerly the Paramount Theatre, is across the street. I'm not a nightclubber, I'm a baby boomer mom who loves movies and eating out. I've given this restaurant several chances but have been disappointed every time. So unless I'm absolutely desperate & can't find anywhere else in the area to eat, I doubt I'll ever go back. BAD NEWS: Small stingy servings, very overpriced and pretentious in atmosphere & attitude, the staff act like you should be humbly grateful to be admitted inside from a long line-up, but they don't hurry to take your orders. No revovation in the world will fix those problems! Sorry, Montana without the 's, Montana's Cookhouse WITH the 's is 10 times better. Milestone's next door on John Street is a lot better in terms or food AND service.

I was not very impressed with this place. Me and my boyfriend were hoping to enjoy a nice birthday dinner there recently, but we didn't even get close to being asked what we wanted to drink. The servers and hostess kept looking at us, wondering why no had come around to us, and just continued on with doing nothing.
Having previously worked in the restaurant business I would fully understand, if it were busy and on a wait. But after 10 mins of being unattended, we just left, and walked right past a group of servers and hostesses just standing around talking.

My friend and I went to Montana recently on a promotion deal 'A great Night Out' and we had a really good time. The only thing I would 'complain' is the location of our seats. We were seated on the corner of the restaurant, I was facing towards the restaurant and at the corner of my eyes I can see the lights were beaming brightly from the 2nd level of Scotiabank Theatre. My friend had a even worse spot, the TV (NW corner) was shinning right at her face. The food was great, my ribs didn't fall off the bone but was very nasty. My friend made a comment about the server afterwards because he would spy on our table to see if everything is ok. What a funny guy. The decor is very different compare to the other Montanas out in the 905 areas but overall I'd go back there again.

This was the most horrible place I've ever been to!

I went there for my birthday on Sat Feb 24, 2007 and had a reservation for 9PM. We waited there until 10:30PM and finally left. I kept asking the waitress there what time we would be seated and she could not even provide an answer and she kept saying it will be one minute.

One minute turned into 1.5 hour and we finally left and ate at Milestone's. The service was superb there, they seated us instantly once my friends told them what happened at Montana's and gave me free bday cake.

At Montana's I asked to speak to the Manager who was not even available.

Bad service, rude seating waitress........I will call head office to complain.

This is the WORST bar you can go to in Toronto to enjoy your evening with friends. I have been there twice, and both times the staff and particularly the front door bouncers (we refer to them as tweedle dee and tweedle dumb) are rude, unprofessional and are just looking for a reason to kick people out.

Dont waste your time going to this bar - although the location itself is great, the staff and doormen will ensure your experience is the worst.

If you want to ruin your night, Montana is the perfect place to go. I went there with some friends to have a good time, but everything ended up being a disgusting experience.

We were dinning (and expending a fortune doing so) when one waitress gave us some passes for visiting the lounge. The waitress and another two employees show us the way there through an internal door and explained us that we could come back to the restaurant or going to the disco on the second floor using the same door. After expending there half of an hour; we decided to come back. We were crossing the internal door when two bouncers came from outside and without any provocation verbally attacked me and physically attacked one of my friends.

Next day we visited the place to complain and after ten days waiting for a response, they just said "sorry, but this is the bouncers' job". Can you believe this?
