I wanted to give a quick update. It's been at least 2 years since I've last eaten here. I took my roommate there for lunch Friday and it was so good that we went back for dinner=). Still a great contender.

We just had my daughter's wedding at Brassaii's and were thrilled with everything. Food was excellent and presentation was beautiful. Our waiters for the evening were on top of everything. We could not have picked a better venue for the wedding.
Thank you to everyone, you made it a truly memorable evening for us

In regards to those who had an unpleasant encounter at Brassai, I'd like to thank the bouncers for keeping nasty people such as yourselves out of the space. Your arrogance and contempt for others is not wanted, please keep it to yourselves, and stay away from downtown.
Brassai has excellent food, wonderful service, and their staff does a great job protecting their patrons from hostile losers such as these. A welcome refuge from pretension!

I totally love this place. Love it to the point that my wife and I got married here and Brassaii hosted both for the ceremony and the reception. Brassaii holds special events on request with careful consideration to setup and menu needs. The establishment took loving care in accommodating our requests and the whole day/evening was simply amazing and magical. Flawless execution on service and drop dead gorgeous custom menu from the chef's team. The service extended not just in the restaurant but outside of it as well to the courtyard. Gus especially went above and beyond by ordering matching flowers for the ceremony!!!! Bravo to Brassaii.

Listen Marcella, before you go and call somebody a "dumbass", and make yourself look like a fool, i would invest sometime and learn how to spell "obnoxious", not abnoxious. secondly, you did not see anything, because we entered from the back, and we did not step on your shoes, and i was not drunk, go read the Police report.
as for your comment as to where i should dine, or how much money i can afford to spend, you will never have access to the places i go to, and the money i spend. i'm not going to continue to defend myself or the situation, because I don't have to justify to anyone what happened that night, and it clearly shows through your message Marcella that you are a very uneducated person, who runs her mouth using foul language. get yourself a thesaurus and learn the basics of expressing yourself and behaving like an adult.

I was at the last event and witnessed the whole thing. This dumbass was drunk, rude and abnoxious....stepping on peoples feet and pushing me and my two girlfriends trying to sneak in.
I have been going to this establishment for many years and always had a great time. Friendly staff and good food. Love going to these sun spa parties ...always fun til some loser ruins it for everybody, because he cannot afford $10 to get in.
Hey buddy Zellers has no cover ...GO HANG OUT THERE !!!
I hate liers. He was escorted out for being drunk in line and trying to sneak in.
This event was fantastic...great music and vibe...can't wait for the next event
Don't be a hater

in repsonse to natalies review or "comment", listen Natalie you weren't there, and you have no idea what you are talking about. I payed to get in btw, my friend didn't have cash on her, so she went in to take out money because the bouncer told her she could, when she couldn't we were not thrown I was assaulted, choknig somebody is not escorting somebody out. i know the difference. and why in the world would I want to go back into brassai after being assaulted? would you? and you keep on saying free of charge, i payed to get in honey...get your facts straight. i wish no one to experience what i did that night, and btw Natalie why don't you advertise what spa you run, so people can get an idea of the hostile and negative behavior that YOUR staff exhibit at these events. before i forget i hope this place goes out of business...there is enough competition in this city with venues that promote friendly and positive energy. i have lived in chicago for several years and have never had such an incident occur to me there ever...i will never support RA Sunspas events, and will spread the word to fellow members in the media and music industries.

I have to agree with the positive reviews - the person who had a bad nightclub / bouncer experience must be confused as to where they were...
The weekend brunch is a fabulous experience - weeknights the food is always good, the service tries hard... if it is a bit pokey the management tries to make amends.
Good place for an office party by the way...
It is refreshing to find a King St W restaurant that is still TRYING to win you over.

in response to jakubs review.
BRASSAII is a great establishment and they are very professional. Great food and Staff!!!
Hi Jakub, I think that i should respond to your commments since it was me that responded to your email last Saturday March 10/07. You asked if we could add you +2 people to our guestlist and i responded back with I'm sorry but guestlist was really limited for this party we had no more available room. I also informed you that it was a $20 cover per person. So you say that when you got to Brassaii the doorman said the guestlist was closed but you weren't on it to begin with. I manage the spa and even all my friends had to pay full cover and they did happily because they LOVE to support us at all our parties. YOU WERE THROWN OUT BY SECURITY BECAUSE YOU GOT CAUGHT SNEAKING IN WITH YOUR TWO FRIENDS! In response to the police officer not doing his job.... When the police got to Brassaii they spoke with everyone involved and made their decision based on what all parties had said. The worst part of all JAKUB is that we were going to let you and your friends in for free because you do come out to all the parties and support.

Love this place!!! Over the years Brassaii has been one of our favourite places to dine in the city.
Not sure what one of the recent reviewers wrote...this space is a restaurant and not a club...I think he's talking about another venue.
In any case, the food's great. One must try the shrimp cocktail for an appetizer (they're the size of a fist). As for entrees, my friends and I have always been fans of the duck confit and the steak frites...deeelicious!
As one of the first places to be on King Street, we hope it's around for many more years...can't wait for the patio to open!

i don't know who runs Brassai, but last night two of my friends attended the therapy party featuring Dj Spinna, and Iw as assualted by one of the bouncers. This is the last time I am ever going to this place, and ever attending Jojoflores therapy parties. The whole incident started when we arrived at the party, and they bouncer told us guestlist was closed...so fine we decided to pay the $20 cover, but my friend didn't have cash on her, so she asked the bouncer if she could take out money at the bar, and he replied yes...we go to the bar order our drink, and find out you cannot take out money at the bar, the next thing we know the bouncer comes looking for us, we were in the club for less than 5 mins, and tells my friend that if she doesn't pay now, he will hurt he...the next thing i know he put his arms around my neck and lifted me off the ground. I was shocked, and left the club and called the police. When the polisc arrived they went inside and they came back outside, (with a smirk) that bouncers can "escort" anyone they don't want at the party...mind you i payed to get in, and he had the right to assault me. Tha'ts not called escorting someone out, it's called ASSAULT. I was not impressed with how the Police handled this situation, they are supposed to be here to serve and protect, instead they let some bouncer off the hook, for grabbing me by thge neck. I am stating this information in hopes of others who attend this party will be forewarned of the behavior and unprofessionalism these parties exhibit.

This is not necessarily a place that I would dine at again, but the scene is fantastic. I attended an event at Brassai last Thursday evening and wow, they really put on a decent party. I would recommend this place for parties only. Eat somewhere else before you go and you will be guaranteed to have a wonderful evening.

my friends and I had a great evening- food and service were equally great! Our server told us about the backroom being a lounge on Saturday nights so we decided to check it out after dinner. Very nice set up DJ was playing good mix of music, we didn't stay too late however the room was filling up nicely as we left! We will definitely be back soon!

Best brunch! Yom - eggs en cocotte...amazing!
Best dinner - steak and frites - yummy!
Desserts are always amazing!
This is a place that is consistent - great food, great service, great prices. A treat for all senses, but most importantly - the mouth.
Definitely check it out...

No question that you definitely get your money's worth here. As the review indicates, while the food is merely good (but not outstanding), the service is excellent. Very attendant staff, but not too friendly, and well spaced seating that enabled privacy. In fact we were there 1 week after it opened and found there to be no glitches vs. what is usually the case with new openings. But have to say we were NOT impressed with the plastic seats - I mean come on this is not my high school cafeteria. They were quite uncomfortable, but perhaps a last minute substitiute for a late order. Best choices: gnocchi with quail, and whatever braise for the day offers. This is the place for a mid-week meal when you don't want to spend too much, but still eat well. Hopefully the "lounge" area at the front will be expanded....

Went to Brassaii a couple weeks ago for dinner and was instantly impressed with the space and atmosphere that created out of this old building. The large and spacious room had a definite NYC feel to it.. trendy and minimalist cool, but not cold and uninviting. The food was quite good (check out the chickpea frites!) and prices were very reasonable for french food in Toronto. The only complaints? The plastic chairs & uncomfortable bench seating, and our server could've been a just a little happier (he didn't smile once during our 2 hour meal). Overall, a great place to hang out, have drinks and eat.. can't wait to check out the patio this summer

Good atmosphere but terrible, terrible food. Mid-way through the meal we knew that the aftermath wasn't going to be pleasant. Calamari, risotto, crabcakes.. sub-par for the venue they are trying to create. Strongly suggest walking down King St and checking out other new locales that are up for the challenge.

I've been to Brassaii a few times over the past year and I can honestly say that I have yet to be disappointed. Each time is a completely new experience. However one very important aspect remains consistent. The SERVICE!!! It's impeccable. I have yet to see that level of service in any other restaurant - unless of course you are dining at a restaurant where you need to leave one of your limbs for payment. I've noticed that Brassaii has changed it's menu a few times over the past year and I must say, the food keeps getting better and better. I think the crab cake app is my favourite!!! I've had great times here and am sure will continue to have more. Thank you.

Spot is great. I've been here many times over the last year and it never disappoints. The food seems to get better and better and the service is friendly. I really like the atmosphere and the look of the space. It has such a New York feel to it.
