Been a few times now and love the place - occasionally gets very busy but i like it that way. Earlier is best if you are looking for a quiet, intimate place!
First went for a work function and for such a large group our dinner and service was flawless! I bring all my clients there for dinner now.
This place is relaxed, charming, intimate and energetic all at once - I just moved here 1 year ago from NYC and this place makes me feel like I'm back home. Very 'New York'.
Love the bar after work. Ki is overrated - come here instead!

Love this place... didn't go for the first year or so that it was open as I was put off by some not so great reviews. I finally ended up going and it is now my favorite place in the city!! Listen folks - every resto in the city gets bad reviews but I urge you to make up your minds for yourselves! Especially about this place! It's great - good wholesome food, friendly staff and a relaxed, fun environment. On top of this, I find the place just keeps improving. Personally, I prefer sitting in the bar area, but have eaten many times in the dining room too. Did I mention there wine list is great? Staff are generally pretty knowledgeable about it too, but the management are more than happy to help give you some great suggestions - great value for some great bottles here! 110% worth the trip downtown!

I made reservations over the telephone for summerlicious and the hostess offered us the chef's table.
We were greeted warmly and were impressed by the decor. We were seated at the table and our server was extremely pleasant. A few minutes after, Trevor stopped by our table to introduce himself. He gave us a look that was not too welcoming. Maybe because we looked young and were not dressed to a tee.
Ordered our food and received our food:
APPETIZER
Scallops and Pork: Scallops were mediocare and were kinda cold when they arrived. Pork was awfully salty
Cheddar Risotto: It was delicious and no complain.
ENTREE
Steak - It was alright. I've had better steaks and the fries that came with it was ordinary. Nothing special. Just plain ol' fries.
Duck Confit - Once again, it was SALTY. On top of that I found HAIR in my food. YES, I FOUND HAIR!!!! The last thing I would expect from a restaurant like this. So I told the server and ordered their white fish instead. The fish was well cooked and moist. However, everything else that came along with it was tasteless.
Trevor delivered the fish and I got a mere, "Sorry 'bout that".
You would think that sitting at a Chef's table he would be more attentive to the group but he was not at all. Mind you, he was not the one cooking and did not look too occupied. He was actually outside the kitchen, calling out orders, back facing us, and was about 4 steps away from our table. At the end, we wanted to at least take a picture with him but it didn't happen because he was 'too busy' - keep in mind we could see him from where we were sitting and he wasn't that occupied. Shame that he could not even take two seconds of his time to take pictures with customers who found hair in their food.
The subtotal per person is supposed to be $35. But since I found hair in my food, they took $20 off. Ha, what a joke.
OVERALL,
I was not impressed by Trevor Kitchen and Bar. I expected so much more from the rave reviews I've read about this restaurant. The food was average, the servers were friendly, the executive chef/owner was a snob. SO, I would not go back here again.

Not much to say about the place....except don't bother going there. Too many fabulous restaurants in Toronto to bother with this one. The service was bad, really bad. Unattentive to our table, couldn't even manage to keep out water glasses from drying out, could never find anyone to order drinks from and even the one and only bartender was in his own world. Need I go on.....
And dont' get me started on Trevor. For the owner/manager of a restaurant, he really needs to learn some basic manners. Swearing at the customers is not good for business.
The food was good, but don't bother with Trevor's Kitchen, just not worth ruining your night.

I live in the Market area and, having been to several of the other local restaurants, have decided that Trevor is my favourite by far. I must admit though - I haven't eaten from the dining menu, choosing instead to order from the bar menu. I think this is the best value and somewhat less formal too. The bar menu has about 10 items that are changed often as seasonal ingredients change and are based on comfort foods we're all familiar with. Such as gourmet macaroni and cheese or truffle and goat cheese poutine. Nothing fancy just very well made with quality ingredients.
I've been to Trevor several times and have recommended it to many of my friends who's experiences have all been fantastic.

I go out to restaurants of all kinds a lot and had heard amazing things about Trevor's. I was still a littl skeptical until I finally went in with a friend. All I have to say is that it's one of the best new places I have tried in a long time. The waiter was amazing from the start. Totally attentive, very helpful. We weren't sure of the wine to order and he totally helped us choose. Food was exquisite and we weren't rushed out of our table. I loved our dinner. Sometimes you go to restaurants and they charge you a ridiculous amount for such crappy food. This place is divine and not unreasonable. Very cozy, very cool spot. I just booked a reservation for my birthday party next month. Can't wait to go back! Finally a place worth making me a regular at!

The service at Trevor is terrible - and he doesn't care. With so many good restaurants in that neighbourhood, spend your time and money elsewhere.
We made a reservation for my birthday dinner on a Tuesday night. Start to finish, the service was subpar. Even BELOW subpar. I know the restaurant industry - when problems with service are the fault of an overstretched kitchen, and when it's the result of a poorly-managed front of house and inept servers. This was definitely the latter. No one offered to take my coat or direct me to a coat check - or our table - on a sleet-y night, and our server was a terrible communicator who took no responsibility for any of the problems with our dinner service, and poorly represented the menu and the wine list. He did a huge disservice to the work going on in the kitchen.
At the end of our meal, we asked to speak with a manager and got Trevor, who was clearly uninterested in our complaints, and responded with: "Really? Well that's not usually how we do things around here." No wonder the front of house is so awful if he's setting the standard.
It's a shame - the kitchen was putting out great food, but it was completely overshadowed by a disorganized front of house. There are so many good restaurants in that area that offer a better overall experience - don't waste your time or your money with Trevor.

I had dinner at Trevor last night with two friends - making us a party of 3 women. The ambience was very nice, especially when most of the table nearby emptied. Before they did it was loud, possibly due to a low ceiling and little space between tables where we were seated (in the bar area). Unfortunately, the service was the worst I've experienced in a very long time. Our waiter had a dour demeanor from the start, and it went downhill from there. I think he was a bit put off when I mentioned that the white wine wasn't very cold. He didn't seem too interested or concerned by my comment, and I sensed he thought I didn't know what temperature white wine should be consumed at. Anyway, he put it one ice, which helped a lot. The starters were fine, but the lobster & shrimp spaghettini which two of us ordered, as a main course, was not. The spaghettini turned out to be spaghetti, which was overcooked, and warm rather than hot. Not great, but not then end of the world, because we could let the waiter know when he checked on our meal. But, that didn't happen until then end of the meal - or at least the end of the black cod dinner my friend was enjoying. But even this would not have been such a bad thing, if the waiter had acknowledged this and apologized etc. No, he simply asked if we wanted two more dinners! We were almost finished dinner, it was late, so, no, I don't want to eat a second plate of pasta. He didn't seem to understand this response and appeared to have difficulty thinking on his feet, so he asked if I'd like to speak with the manager. I had hoped he could deal with it but decided maybe it was the way to go since he seemed at a loss as to how to deal with what I considered to be a fairly common thing that can happen in a restaurant. The "manager"'s response was worse because she was, or at least said she was, the manager. She cut me off when I was explaining the problem, and asked if we would like a second helping of pasta! I explained that it was too late, we had been hungry so we'd eaten the first pasta despite the state of it. She seemed defensive and decided to explain about being one waiter short because someone called in etc...very little understanding of graciousness and hospitality going on down there. And darn, the dessert was not great either - a quince tart - bland and undercooked. Food reviewers give restaurants a second, and sometimes even a third visit. But customers aren't being paid to eat, we're paying - and at Trevor, a fair price - for good food and service. If it's not there the first time, I'll seek it out elsewhere because in this city there is so much to choose from.

Great vibe in the place. The seating section is intimate and providings a more relaxed atmosphere where as the lounge side is more upbeat and provides a great social setting. Service was great. Tables are close together (be warned) but does provide opportunity to meet new friends! Food was served prompt (but not too quickly) and was yummy!

The food was passable however for the price there are many places in downtown T.O. that are far better than Trevor. The service was spotty and the food was little better. The restaurant side of the establishment was extremely loud.

Three of us dined at Trevor on an extremely cold Tuesday night. We were pleasantly surprised by the whole evening. In most places, you can find one thing on the menu in which you like all the ingredients in the dish. At Trevor, we had a problem deciding which of the entrees to select, as they all sounded delicious. The waitstaff was knowledgeable and friendly, without being overpowering or pretentious. We have since recommended Trevor to several people. Maybe, I should write a bad review so it won't get too crowded.

The hostess was prompt at taking out coats, our sever was prompt taking our order. The food was amazing, (the cod is the best). Although the seating area is tight, it does provide an intimate dining experience with a New York vibe.

I was quite dissapointed with Trevor Kitchen and Bar. Having heard that it's the chic after-work place to dine and drink, I was upset with the experience I had. Our coats were checked behind the bar and upon receiving them, they were frozen. It appears that they were hung outside! The appetizers were delicious but the wait time for our main entree was over 20 minutes long in which I received my venison with a big black curly hair! It took them just under 2 minutes to bring me a 'new plate' that was not presented in the same manner. The waitress was apologetic but also a big snooty. After our entree, both my dining partner and I had to use the restrooms. The waitress had actually come in to ask if I was the blonde woman who ordered the venison--she thought we had fled the bill! To my disgust, we refrained from dessert and promptly asked for the bill. This was truly a disgraceful experience.

many tables were vacant, but we had to sit at the bar..Poor planning on the hostess position..One should try using two seatings where the tables
don't seat empty while..Thats lost of business..Liquir prices varied..
Service was poor, quality of food good..Shrimp tempura under done..
Watchg those controls Trevor !!

Make no mistake Trevor is a great establishment for food, service and ambience. Hip without the pretentiousness expected with a fine establishment. Here young and older, excuse me mature, sit among each other to delight in the menu. Very few misses on the menu. Feeling kinda funky and not in the mood for dining, then try the fun bar menu...much to please there. I'll be back

FINALLY! A place that's warm and cozy and just the right amount of modern flare! Great colours and love the original exposed brick and wood. I love this place. And the food...there are no words! We tried the cod, the pressed hen, the banada split for 2 - all perfectly prepared and presented. Oh and those Kobe burgers - thank goodness the original is back - Thanks Trev! Yours are the only ones that melt in your mouth! I'm telling everyone about this place - it's hip, comfortabele and very reasonably priced. We'll be back time and again.

Popped in to check out what was done to the old place and vav va voom. What a sexy space, totally transformed. That back stone wall, the stainless steel and black everywhere. It's quite stunning, totally love the ornamental toadstool garden under the staircase.
The restaurant and bar staff were lovely and totally accomodating. Cheers to Ray for lovely service. But it doesn't stop there. Please please please try the port beef cheeks with the wild mushroom and squash risotto. Every time I took a bite the sound mmmmmmmmmmm was slipping from my lips. Cooked to perfection, full of rich and wonderful flavour, and can you say tender.
Totally impressed, will continuously brag about the place. Will most certainly return and encourage many others to take their custom to Trevor.

This place is amazing - an absolute must-visit for either a fun night in the bar area (with incredible appetizer/share plates such as surf and turf tacos and beef cheek and chevre nachos) or a luxurious meal in the dining room - the risotto and black cod dishes are both to die for. Oh yes, and of course there are those mini Kobe beef burgers. apparently Trevor Wilkinson was the one who came up with them in the first place, and they've been copied all over town. the other great thing about Trevor is the prices - upscale food, but nothing over thirty bucks. 100% recommended, and we've eaten at pretty much every restaurant in the city.

Great new place, has everything you are looking for, the bar area has a completely different feeling than the dinning area and then there is the lounge area. Great feeling in all areas.
Food is fantastic, they are so new so they can only get even better.
