One of the best and high-end restaurants in Toronto, I enjoyed the food, the ambiance and the people

We went there for lunch. The food was wonderful. Loved the atmosphere and especially loved the barber's chair. The added touch of having the one of the owners come and chat with us was the icing on the cake. Will definitely go back and will definitely recommend. Next time I will have to try something from their brunch menu...:)

the ambiance was nice, and the hostess was very friendly. but the waitress acted like serving us was a favour she detested having to do.

I've been here at least ten times and every time I walk out with a good buzz and a lot of money left over... and the owners are cool people too.

All the staff are friendly and very professional. Unlinke other reviews left here, I had never had any problems and the experience in trying different dishes has been always remarkable. The ambience aligned with the care of the owner's attention adds up many points!Highly recommended.

The problem with defining yourself through decor like this is that a person might expect good, classic French bistro cuisine, which is definitely not what they deliver. My Salade Nicoise (mispronounced by the server) had 3 small gristly grilled tuna chunks, 3 green beans, spring greens soggy with vinaigrette, and a few olives and anchovies. Anyone could do this, but I expect a classic Nicoise from such a place as Coquine. Open up a good tin of tuna, that's what they do in Nice. Layer on the beans lavishly with a mustard vinaigrette. The French don't mess with this and neither should Coquine. The Onion Soup was layered with a thin oil on top, and tasted of tomato paste. Not enough onions - it should have been thick, sweet, and stringy with the best Gruyere - it was anything but. Quiche needed to be thicker, heavier with cream - but the pastry was excellent. I asked if they had a good rose (something dry, meaty-tasting - like a Tavel) - she brought me a dreadful sweet Zinfandel. On the plus side, the frites are very very good. The service was well-meaning, but un-knowledgeable. Some advice: stick to a few very well executed dishes and don't put a modern spin on classic cuisine.

I love the place. I eat there all the time and have yet to try a dish that I didn't like. The Coquine salad is delicious. All the main courses are great, but my favorite is the Casoulet. The management and staff are very professional and very accommodating. The atmosphere at the bar is great and it's a great place to hang out even if you go by yourself.

Loved it. Went with a couple of girlfriends for dinner and the atmosphere was perfect - friendly, casual, lively. Service was personal and professional. Dinner was much more than I expected - excellent. Highly recommended.

I visited Coquine with two friends to celebrate my friend's birthday.
When we arrived it was quite busy at the bar. We were told that it would be a 20 min. wait for a table. It took an hour to get seated but we had a blast at the bar! We chilled out and had some drinks. The owner was kind enough to give us a round of shots while we waited too. I enjoyed the atmosphere, trendy, casual but not too casual, and lots of cute men surrounded us! I have to say the food was excellent. I ordered the steak frites and let me tell you, the steak was cooked to perfection and the fries were the most amazing fries I have ever tasted in my life! Although it was super busy in there and quite loud, we managed to have an excellent dinner and will definately go back this summer to eat and hang out at the bar. The location is a cool location, right in the heart of midtown! I recommend the steak frites, definately better than the Keg! We need more cool places like Coquine around midtown.

Cute. And admittedly the food was quite good. But I don't know what it is, but it's difficult to get motivated to go Yonge-eg.

To be fair, we were a group of twelve. That's not easy to manage. But the food took a full two hours and forty-five minutes to arrive (that's right, 2hrs 45mins). They tried to mollify us with a round of shooters and a bottle of sparkling wine. Nice gesture, but it missed the mark by a mile. When the food finally arrived, most of my friends were very happy with their dishes (though after nearly three hours they could have served us our shoes and it would have gone over well). I was not so lucky. I ordered the duck, and it was the blandest, driest duck I have ever had. I was not asked by our server if it was satisfactory, so no chance to send it back, which I wouldn't have anyway for fear of passing out. Needless to say, I won't be back.

I didn't have that much there, but service was great, the owner was wonderful and friendly, felt like a neighbourhood restaurant where everyone knows everyone. The french onion soup was great and the caesar was so fresh and the best I've had in the city...
