Marie Antoinette: The Color Of Flesh :: Jun. 26 – Aug. 30

If Sofia Coppola’s Marie Antoinette taught us anything it’s that Marie wasn’t a pampered and distracted Queen who understood so little about the national poverty epidemic that she suggest the poor citizens “eat cake.” No, she was a pampered, distracted Queen who didn’t even think about the citizens of her country at all. She was far too busy fucking every handsome and distinguished gentlemen to enter her palace (other than her husband of course) to be able to focus on such trivial matters. This play shows a fictionalized love triangle between Antoinette, her portrait painter Élisabeth Vigée-Lebrun, and Count Alexis de Ligne. The costumes will be gorgeous, but the only people who will be able to relate to the protagonist are spoiled rich girls. Fortunately they make up a large portion of the Broadway audience. –P.B.

    Tickets are $31.50-$56.50
