GYPSY :: Ongoing
  here have been murmurs of a Gypsy revival ever since Patti LuPone won raves for her performance as Momma Rose during last year’s Encores! Summer Stars series at City Center. Well, those rumors have officially become fact as the 1959 classic has taken up residence in the St. James Theater. The original author Arthur Laurents has even assumed staging duties. With two Broadway legends like that on the bill, this is sure to be a powerhouse show that won’t soon be forgotten. With musical adaptations of films filling most of the Broadway stages, Gypsy will provide audiences with a blast of traditional Broadway charm. It’ll be like going back in time without all those unfortunate Back To Future-style time continuum ramifications. –P.B.
