    Charlie Parker Jazz Festival :: Marcus Garvey Park and Tompkins Square Park :: Sat. Aug. 29 - Aug. 30

    A lot of people consider Charlie Parker one of the most influential jazz musicians ever. In fact, I can name you at least 8 people who feel that way: Frank Wess, Gary Bartz, Jose James, Aaron Parks, Cedar Walton, Papa Vazquez, Pyeng Threadgill, and the Dred Scott Trio. Those are the musicians who will pay tribute to the legendary saxophonist at this free two day festival, staged in the two neighborhoods that Parker is most associated with. If you're a jazz fan, it's a can't miss. - R.T.
