NYC Galleries
ver since Modernism swept the art world, everyday life has not only been considered acceptable as the stuff of art, it's also been encouraged. Fittingly, this gallery takes the 1950s as its starting point, a time when artists everywhere began to look to the streets for inspiration. Whether it be the street photography of Robert Frank, William Klein and Yoko Ono, or the new installations of Xaviera Simmons and Fatimah Tuggar, this exhibition has it. Expect documentations of performance art, video, art objects, and maybe some painting. - R.T.
