    Hallo Berlin Express

    August 18,2008 2:04:05 pm
Location: 744 Ninth Avenue, New York, NY

Known for the pushcart at 54th and 5th, and Hallo Berlin on tenth, sausage king Rolf Babiel opened Hallow Berlin Express. The self-serve restaurant seats crowds of 30 who head to the restaurant for their ten varieties of sausages and other German fare. Never one to take themselves too seriously -this is meat in a tube after all, and thus the not so distant cousin of the hotdog- the place serves two hilarious specials. The Dictator (replete with a photo of Stalin) and no room for choice, serves a Berliner frank and one bratwurst, with German fries, cabbage, onions and bread. The Democracy Special is your choice of any two bratwursts with German fries, cabbage, onions and 2 Bavarian meatballs with bread. The Atkins plate on the other hand consists of beef, pork, and veal sausages with a meatball and pickle. Didn't Dr. Atkins die from a heart attack? Be sure to bring tums and breath mints, or else face a rough afternoon in the office.
