Location: 75 Wall Street New York, NY
On a street known for its stodgy hotels, Hyatt Hotels has gone a decidedly different route with it’s upcoming Andaz Wall Street hotel, slated to open in late January 2010. Like the other Andaz properties, this one, located at the corner of Wall and Water streets, aims to offer a fresh and hip boutique alternative to the Wall Street hotel scene.
The first Andaz premiered in London in 2007, while a second opened on the Sunset Strip in West Hollywood, a the site formerly known as the "Riot House" because of the wild rock 'n' roll crowds that it attracted. And now this third property - the 253-room Andaz Wall Street, in New York City’s financial district - will feature the hip décor that you’d expect in a boutique, but with a different spin; the hotel won’t boast "open-concept" showers or i-docks, but that is not to say the Wall Street hotel will be old-school. Curated by the award-winning Rockwell Group, the design is more about natural simplicity and comfort, boasting some of the largest guestrooms in New York City (the largest clocking in at 345+ square feet).
Think private club meets stylish townhouse. Interiors blend contemporary amenities with traditional dark woods, and it’s a mix that trickles down into the hotel’s ability to balance the needs of business travelers with those just in town for the weekend. All of the standard Andaz guestrooms feature 42” flat screen televisions, black out curtains, iHome stereos, complimentary wireless Internet access, marble bathrooms, Red Flower bath essentials and Sealy Posturpedic mattresses.
Andaz - which means “personal style” in Hindi, is all about the latest in style, innovation and customer service - will also have a fitness centre, a spa and a restaurant, the Andaz Studio, where chefs prepare market fresh, made-to-order dishes in a communal style kitchen. And then there’s the mandatory hipster bar - Andaz Lounge - where you’ll have a drink while being checked in via handheld PC.
The Andaz Wall Street opens the second quarter 2010. | | |
