Review by Jennifer Toole |
here is a tiny entrance with a tiny sign that reads and leads the way to Tre Dici Steak. A decrepit old elevator that looks like it was built at the turn of the century whisks confused guests up the shaky shaft up to Floor Two. The doors slide away to reveal an elegant and secluded gem of a steakhouse.
With its large leather chairs, dark woods and blood red and gold details, Tre Dici Steak oozes forbidden romance. The extravagance of the décor and the unheard of privacy from the public give the room an old Hollywood feel. You want to be sharing a martini with Marlon or a slim cig with Monroe. The secrecy is too good to be true and I’m not helping by writing about it, but, in my defense, it’s a tough spot to ignore. Just promise not to talk about it, ok? Go and enjoy. Have a scandelous rendezvous. Just keep it to yourself.
The menu is the usual steakhouse fare. Lamb racks and New York Strips come along with lighter options like tuna tartare or a straight up Tom Collins. Kobe beef is the trendy cut nowadays and to be expected at any respectable steakhouse, but Steak did the unexpected. Try the Kobe beef ravioli with black truffle and caramelized onions to get your blood flowing – not that you’ll need much help. Usually we want things more when they’ve been forbidden to us. –J.T.
