Rinvington, the place started strong, garnering critical adoration from the outset, but watched its rep slide. However, it has made a come back.
Marcel Warners space has a vaguely Euro yet quintessentially Manhattan aura, replete with its Rorschach wallpaper, black seating, leather booths, and hook-up lighting. It has a lounge-first vibe, but not dogma. Thanks to a recent kitchen acquisition, Thor has slowly begun to get more foodie cred.

Former Sous Chef at the Stanton Social and, more recently, Chef de Cuisine at Cantina, Jesi Solomon took over the top spot at the Rivington Hotel's eponymous (sort of) in-house restaurant in August. Since then, it has slowly scored a more food-centric reputation.
While the menu is changeable, a sample selection treads a contempo line with entries like Maple Brined Pork Tenderloin, Coriander Dusted Salmon, and Pan Seared Halibut. Also, there's a raw bar a welcome raw bar with fresh catches as well as steak, snacks, and brunch. The by-the-bottle wine card is inspired and spreads the globe (and budget parameters). -S.T.
