Review by Ellen Jakobsmeier |
or females, the box has always been synonymous with danger as it encompasses references to the vagina or the ill fated Pandora whose curiosity got the best of her. Appropriately, contained within this Box is an eclectic mix of derelict yet talented performers (read flame breathers and sword swallowers) who grace the stage every evening to showcase their bizarre talents. Human oddities, Eastern European thespian talent, and a variety of circus stars have been known to perform weekly within this intimate two-story venue reminiscent of a New Orleans’ cabaret full of plus velvet accents, chandeliers and Persian rugs. If you can stomach your dinner, especially after the contortionist’s act, the chef serves a delicious meal that is a feast for both your eyes and stomach. Curiosity is the name of the game, so open the door to the box and see what’s in store.
