hile the immigrant workers of the early 1900’s would be appalled that a coach house has transformed to a trendy yet tiny restaurant for the yuppie foodie crowd, the owners Matt Abramcyk & Akiva Elstein bank on New Yorker’s inherent obsession with the city’s history by creating a space that appeals to amateur historians and trendy types alike.
The old stable has been outfitted with vintage ship plans, aged steel table tops, drain pipe mould mirror frames and occasional lighting fixtures that reflect the industrial period (and just might bring some old school laborers to tears). Chef Julia Jaksic preps the cuisine behind the bar with inspiration from the factory lunch carts available to workers during that period (with the modern day preservation and preparation techniques of course).
With seating for just under twenty patrons and no reservation policy, there is nothing more ironic than waiting outside a former horses stable for a quality dinner.
