 hough this may appear to be an obvious moniker in relation to the grilled meats scene, RUB is actually an acronym for Righteous Urban Barbeque that is far more flavorful than the generic rub. Owner Paul Kirk has a history of winning many BBQ competitions in the Southern states where saucy flamed cuisine is not just a dinner-time chore, but more a way of life.
Though the space is relatively devoid of fancy flair that is essential in every other NYC resto right down to the metal pie plate serving dishes, the delicious, smoky, meaty treats more than make of for the lack of fanfare. After you attempt to conquer the Taste of Baron dinner -a smattering of ribs, chicken, and smoked meats - a helping of deep-fried Oreos is the necessary dessert option.
