ometimes, not always, but sometimes, wandering around near Lincoln Centre makes me crave olives; seriously. I don't know why. Perhaps, I have a fateful Lincoln Centre olive moment buried in my subconscious. Maybe it's just that Picholine is nearby. Chef/owner Terrance Brennan's continuously delectable and often-evolving Mediterranean-tinged offerings have been drawing devotees since the mid-90s.
Like the food, the room too has evolved. Though still a tad-less than cozy, its lines are clean and its lighting is soft (well, soft enough). Thankfully, Picholine eschews the standard Medi-dining room pictures of the homeland aesthetic in favor of fresh paint and drapery. (I was going to end with, "everything's Pich-ey," but that's lame).

2 Reader Reviews | I've lived in New York for seven years and this has been one of the worst experiences I've had eating out. That says a lot since I eat out every second day.
One waitress was friendly but not very helpful when it came to attention – very bad, considering that they weren't that busy. The meals were not of the hype that we've been hearing, and although I've paid more than this at other restaurants but usually always get something worth it. I now know why this place only had 5 or 6 tables filled all night. I would avoid this place. There are certainly better choices in NYC.
