“Philoxenia” means hospitality, and that is exactly what you can expect at the restaurant’s new location opening December 12th. Mother and daughter team, Dionysia Germani and Nancy Gavopoulou, are moving up in Astoria. They decided not to renew their lease in favour of new, more spacious surroundings. They will still be serving up your favourite grilled whole fish and their feta special, so don’t dismay. The “philoxenia” hasn’t changed, but now more guests will be able to enjoy it. –J.T.

I've wanted to try Philoxenia due to the numerous good reviews on other established websites, and their Yahoo local pages said that there was valet parking. I also heard that home owners nearby put out their old stuff to sell. So, me being fond of that thrift-shop spending and yard sales, I thought: "Hey, I'll go check it out. I can eat there and go shopping later!"

However, the minute I got there via car, I found their valet parking to be a JOKE. Apparently, the restaurant owners thought "valet parking" means they jam park my car on the public street, bumper-to-bumper, or illegally on the sidewalk walkway (in other words, no real valet parking). I was more worried about my car than about the dinner: 'Were the valet owners going to scratch it? Would the neighborhood get angry, call the cops, and have my car towed?' I don't know about you, but I wouldn't sacrifice my car for food.
