Review by Ellen Jakobsmeier |
hose lucky enough to afford a stay in the Mercer will more than likely be able to afford a carefully crafted culinary creation from the kitchen of Jean-George Vongerichten’s Mercer locale. With a main level patio for those who don’t mind congregating with the riff raff and a second lower level (that would rival Splinter’s sewer lair any day) in which patrons exude a discreet and secret awareness of how fortunate they are to be dining à la Jean-George.
Of course the cuisine will be spectacular - that's a Jean-George standard. Don’t expect to see any anthropomorphized turtles walking around with nunchucks any time soon, unless pepperoni pizza has mysteriously arrived on the menu.
