Fans of Mannahatta have not been doing very well over the last few weeks. Sure, AvroKo opened in the old Mannahatta space and have provided plenty of delicious eats and drinks to hold the masses at bay…but it’s just not the same (for one thing it’s a design firm not a lounge, so the employees get very irritated when you suddenly demand food and drinks late at night). Well, fortunately the pain of separation is finally over, because Mannahatta has re-opened in the space that used to house Crime Scene (the owners of which are now co-owner of this new incarnation).

Bill Fresko has gone to great lengths to ensure that this new venue retains the same style and feel of his old location. To do that he’s not only relocated the furniture and decorations to this location, but trucked the entire service bar and all the old wall panels to this spot as well. As a result the new space looks eerily similar to the old one…but in a good way. You get the same rich mahogany environment with delicate mood lighting, but in a slightly different layout that will confuse nostalgic drunks.

That’s not to say that this Mannahatta is just more of the same with a new address, Fresko has made a few minor alterations to change things up a bit. He’s added a massive new painting by D.J.-designer Izzy Gold that instantly adds a new level of cool to the room. He’s also invited graffiti artist Pesu to host live paint-offs on Thursdays, which will not only give the bar indie cred, but guarantee patrons a free aerosol head buzz at least once a week. So if you’ve been curled up in a ball on your floor, sobbing uncontrollably ever since Mannahatta closed, it’s time for you to finally step outside again. It’s back baby.

The space is cozy, typical of what you'd expect in the neighborhood, and the pizza is delicate. A refined pie with the appropriate amount of fresh toppings.

The space is hip enough, typical of what you'd expect in the area, and the ambiance is b-list hectic. A refined crowd with the appropriate amount of cash to drop.
