A n amalgamation of the lush cultures of Spain and Argentina could only end well. Imagine the invigorating music and the tantalizing cuisine such a pairing would produce. La Zarza has it all.
Chef Jorge Rodriguez, previously of Chimichurri Grill, has created a sacred spot in the East Village where Barcelona and Buenos Aires come together seamlessly. The walls look like molten chocolate highlighted by warm candle-lit lighting. The atmosphere is completed by the sultry vibes emanating from the global DJ spinning in the back.
The menu is full of Spanish/Argentinean dishes with slight inspirations from Africa, the Middle East and Asia. Talk about fusion. The wines are along the same bent along with a variety of sangria options made with seasonal fruits.
Rodriguez has a fool-proof formula. If only he could bring his hometown weather along with him. –J.T.

1 Reader Reviews | Guess I am grumpy, but I do not find the space at all appealing. The food is very nice otherwise. Staff needs to be more professional, but they are nice.
