When I was little, my Aunt made Easter baskets for us by blowing up a balloon and wrapping it entirely with yarn that had been soaked in sugar water. When the concoction dried, she would pop the balloon, cut a hole in it and fill it with candy. It was a super cool idea and it looked like a retro mesh egg in a lattice motif. Clearly, my Aunt was ahead of her time. I was called back to that Easter basket when I stepped into Todd English’s new Chelsea supperclub, Juliet, with its clever lattice motif ceiling hovering high above the puffy banquettes below. There’s a savvy geometric covalence going on. This restaurant is no Easter basket but it will indeed be filled with (eye) candy when it officially opens - but the people behind it are still “determining” the menu.

Juliet made its entry into the world by throwing a few insider events to create maximum buzz - like the launch of Stolichnaya Vodka’s Gala Applik, with a performance by The Moskova Affair. I’d imagine it’s a good sign when members of the Gossip Girl cast - like Chace Crawford and Jessica Szohr - have been spotted here, along with Project Runway Winner Christian Siriano who’s about to have his own Bravo reality show. Throw in a few socially notorious New Yorkers and you have all the trappings of a new hot spot.

Juliet has the potential of doing well because of its clever design and location. The palm trees of Bungalow 8 are a little tired, and while fancy lattice work alone might not pull in the masses, attention to all other areas will surely help. Perhaps drawing inspiration from the Box, this nightclub comes equipped with a stage for avant-garde performances (sex shows?). Not only that, the floor is a mosaic of muted mirrored tiles (don’t forget your panties, girls) and the walls are peppered with (designer) graffiti – reminiscent of a good acid trip in your best friend’s basement in high school, but cooler. In many ways you are actually inside the disco ball - which will be ideal if Lady Gaga comes to town to do an impromptu performance at some point.

Whether Juliet becomes the new Studio 54 remains to be seen, but it is a strong contender among some stiff competition. The good news is that New York nightlife is making a big comeback – The Boom Boom Room at the Standard and the Ballroom at the Jane Hotel are currently hot NYC nightlife items, so people are indeed adapting to a new era of nightlife. - DM

The ethnic door stuff seem to be on some serious drugs, and so are the people who they let inside. Very weird place. Nobody's good looking. Great loose boys though (but they're all gay)!

Please do not waste your time here. Crowd ok, but the staff is very rude. I usually never take the time to write a bad review but I thought the service was unacceptable.

Overall it was great. The music was great, a nice blend of house and top 40s complimented with a live sax and flute. The ambiance of the place is amazing. Good lighting and decor, the crowd really gets going when they turn the lights brighter to compliment a song. You have to deal with your usual doorman situation, but if you go out in NYC you should be used to it. My only complaint is that we were inside with a table and a few bottles and the doorman, still gave us a hard time when we tried to get other friends in. Overall legit spot, check it out.

I have a love/hate relationship with Juliet. Great crowd, but it is definitely not one of my favorites in Chelsea. As far as I'm concerned they let more people in then they should. Every show I have been to here it has been toooo crowded.

This Place is a waste of a night....Serious wanna-be crowd. unless you want to wait in a line up at the door and watch a handful of people walk right in the front don't expect much different. Very fake crowd.

Nice place but way too loud.... Service too slow.... A real meat market with no class.... Just forget it...

The service is absolutely terrible! A complaint letter has been sent but I am sure nothing will come out of it because I think the kind of owner or manager who hires such rude ignorant and rich blondes just because they have nice tits obviously would not care about unsatisfied customers!

Are you sure you have the right club, Jane? I don't recall nasty door peeps here. I waltz right in every time.

This is the WORST bar you can go to in Chelea to enjoy your evening with friends. I have been there twice, and both times the staff and particularly the front door bouncers (we refer to them as tweedle dee and tweedle dumb) are rude, unprofessional and are just looking for a reason to kick people out.

Gawdy is right, but somehow they pull it off! The crowd is ridiculously good. Good times, but with attitude!

Speakers pulse from every corner of Juliet, enveloping revelers in a sonic quilt of tech, house and disco. Chelsea’s club scene had grown cold since Bungalow 8 petered out, but the funky phoenix that rose from the ashes has the furnace cranked.

This little area has grown into a pretty vibrant place (again). As for Juliet, the place is so-so, plays house music, nothing very spectacular. A pretty mature crowd if you are looking to get your schmooze on.

As A guy who gets invites to secret locations with no barriers I was a bit surprised that we hit this spot and were able to stay low key for a few hours before entering the universal underworld another secret society in jersey well I was not offered my usual for appearence as at most places in miami ; LA , etc. any way great location needs a little more life and more social;ites that can afford the life if you need assistance with this contact SAPmodels@gmail.com and by no means give this address out to anyone strickly for the elite exclusive discrete...

The music is usually excellent, the drinks aren't QUITE as strong as I'd like, and the people... I dunno. I had hoped that since Juliet has been around for a while now that people would chill out and not take the place and themselves so seriously, (ie the scenester gleam would wear off a bit) but no such luck. Still, I like it enough to pop in every once in a while.

Only reason I gave it a star is that at least it made its way to my ears. The doorman was very rude and blatantly biased, not worth it.

Great buzzy atmosphere in this restaurant. Drinks at bar first worked up an appetite. Food excellent, scallops were 'melt in the mouth' and steak tender and juicy. Extensive wine list and some unusual beers that my partner sampled and said tasted great. Service was excellent and very friendly but not annoying and over the top like some places can be.

Juliet opens to the public this Friday, but we were able to get a reservation at a preview party - all good stuff, but the restaurant was still full. The drinks were good, service was attentive and the portions were appropriate for the appetizers and entrees. My friends from Miami loved it.

There food is good and the decor of the club is nice but theres a catch ! There over priced and the people that work there are SNOBS.I worked there briefly and I must say working 13 hours a day is very painful. My belongings were stolen and to top it off I wasn't even given a locker to store my belongings in. I'm no slave for 12hr and I speak only 1 language ENGLISH!
This place won't last, because the prices are outragously expensive. Still only a place for the rich that love throwing there money away on $35,000 bottles when someone like me dosent even make that annually.
We need a club for the poor, I'm tired of seeing people live largley and the poor live and get looked down on.
    Damm HIKES!

Juliet Supper Club is a great new Chelsea spot. Good restaurant with a menu that is more interesting then most. But, really, it's better as a night club.

Fantastic start to a great evening in Chelsea. Crowd was fantastic and the service was good. It is a very busy and loud club so if you are looking for quiet I would suggest going elsewhere.
