Review by Ellen Jakobsmeier |
erfecting the craft of manipulating razor thin salmon and sashimi into culinary works art, this stunning Japanese restaurant is one of the most exquisite venues to hit the NYC foodie scene. Upon entering Japonais, it’s difficult to stop yourself from slightly panicking that the Crazy 88’s (from Tarantino’s Kill Bill) will swarm you with samurai swords however it’s only the sushi and sashimi masters that have access to precision blades here.
Appealing to a traditional Japanese bi-level teahouse, the style of this resto is still distinctly modern thanks to the iridescent paper shade lighting and illuminated floral designs. Accordingly, you can expect superior Japanese cuisine from the sushi-tables but do refrain from sporting the banana yellow Bruce Lee suit.
