R ita Sodi used to be an executive for Calvin Klein. The gig brought cash and prestige, but it was never quite what she had in mind for her life. In the back of her mind, Sodi always wanted to own an Italian restaurant that specialized in her mother’s traditional Tuscan recipes. Well, she recently left Klein-country and is attempting to pursue her dream with I Sodi. She has enlisted chef Michael Genardini (of Alto and L’Impero fame) to assume control of the kitchen Together they piece together a weekly menu that includes such items as artichoke salad with shaved Parmigiano, lasagne, and salt-baked branzino. The food has a homemade quality, but is also undeniably gourmet. The restaurant has a ways to go before becoming one of the finest Italian restaurants in the city, but Sodi, Genardini and co. are well on their way. –P.B.
