n the summer, you’ve got to drink outside or it’s a waste of alcohol. In New York, you’ve got two choices for outdoor boozing: patios and rooftops. Sure, patios are nice, but this is the Big Apple baby. Higher is better, so if you really want to assert your status as a New Yorker you’ve got to get trashed on the tallest damn building that you can find. Enter High Bar. Opening in the third week in May, this 48th street spot is perched high above the streets, but still offers all of the delicacies necessary to qualify as top tier Manhattan bar. You can lounge on spacious couches and beds while sampling on the trendiest drinks of the summer in the open air. The food is set to be haute versions of BBQ favorites like burgers and hot dogs as well as a collection of more upscale appetizers. So, if you’re looking for a trendy spot to spending summer nights sipping overpriced drinks while looking down on the great unwashed from a great height, then this is the place for you. –P.B.
