Review by Lauren Denhartog |
he best known curry joint in Japan has landed smack dab in the middle of New York. Causing mass mayhem at his grand opening, Chef Kenny Kaneko served up delicious bowls of his culinary masterpiece at a mere $.55. Not to worry - 'Go Go Day' falls on the 5th, 15th and 25th of each month and entitles each customer to a free topping coupon. Wondering about all the fives? In Japanese 'go-go' translates as the number 55, referring to New York Yankee's outfielder Hideki Matsui's number.
For under $9, a bowl of rice comes smothered in sauce, topped with a choice of meat, chicken, shrimp or sausage. A tasty brew of curry, teriyaki and beef jus, Kaneko's sauce is the bee's knees. Just go.
