There are way too many restaurants popping up across the country that are based on a fusion of eastern and western values/cuisines/décor/philosophies. It has become an overdone trend and there is no longer any way to have an east meets west themed eatery without doing what’s already been done a hundred times over.
Chef Gianfranco Iuorio has taken the bi-polar trend and put his own twist on it. Giano is a fusion of old and new, past and present, traditional and contemporary. The menu is split into two categories and each one has Italian cuisine from either the dawn of time or modern day. There is the classic meat lasagna or osso buco for the traditional diner and more original fare like beef wrapped in pancetta with horse radish mousse for the contemporaries. Giano is a double-headed Roman god so it’s only natural that Giano the restaurant would have its eyes on two eras at once.
