What used to be Focaccia Fiorentina (an annoying alliterative alias…ahem) is now the Felice Wine Bar. Sitting in the east of the Upper East Side (revoltingly repetitive) is this new casually-elegant wine bar that’s uptown but definitely not uptight. Still, despite the new name, things behind the scenes are still somewhat the same. It’s co-owned by remnants from Focaccia Fiorentina and the chef and wine buyer are the same.
Of course, changes have been ushered in. The precedence of wine has been taken to new heights. The décor unsubtly reflects the “wine” aspect of this bar, from the glass-jugs chandelier to the barrel vestibule. The menu has also changed and looks tasty and heavy on a variety of meat dishes, as is a wine bar’s custom.
Bamboo-steamed halibut provides something light and is served with an eggplant crostini. Chef Simone Parisotto serves up classics like pasta, risotto, and focaccia that pair perfectly with the extensive wine list.
