Review by Ellen Jakobsmeier |
t is not the aim of Chef Zak Pelaccio to make patrons of his Malay resto into fatty people, but a prescription of heavy cardio is the remedy after a night of indulging on the Fatty Crab dining menu. Enter the red room and be prepared to dine on some savoury and succulent dishes. Why not start by shooting back Quail Eggs or munching on some Green Mango with Chili-Sugar-Salt.
Main courses are just as intriguing, including the Market Oyster Omelet Ashraf or the Short Rib Rendang, braised with kaffir lime, coconut and chili sauce – both Fatty Crab specialties. Those who want to show their appreciation to the chef by slurping down a large bowl of noodles will be impressed by the Assam Laksa – a traditional spicy fish soup - for optimum slurpage. Also key at Fatty Crab is their full late night menu that extends to 4am Thursday to Saturday. If the food is always this delish, then I don’t mind a few fatty pounds.
