Review by Ellen Jakobsmeier |
f you want the traditional sky high sandwich full of thin sliced smoked pastrami and roasted brisket between two dry slices of rye and a heavy dose of mustard with a hint of gravy and those spectacular pickles on the side, then David’s is where it’s at. Never mind the trek into Brooklyn – the tender and salty meat is well worth the trip for true sandwich aficionados.
The sloppy and debauchery that soon ensues when attempting to fit your mouth around the mountainous pile of meat is quickly redeemed by a plethora of napkins that are essential to enjoying this experience. Don’t expect a velvet rope or the maître d' to greet you at the door, but rest assured that the no frills philosophy is what keeps the sandwiches so delicious.
